WELCOME!

Women Graduates–USA welcomes all women with an undergraduate (four-year or equivalent) or more advanced degree, or is currently enrolled full- or part-time in an undergraduate program in pursuit of a degree. WG–USA is an online organization whose members live within the United States and abroad.  

WG–USA values diversity in its members and leaders. WG–USA leaders and members are diverse in age, ethnicity, religion, national origin, disability, language and culture, gender expression, personal and professional experience, and issue expertise. 

WG–USA is a 501(c)(3) Advocacy Nonprofit Organization. As a national organization, WG–USA members advocate for our core issues with fellow stakeholders, which include individual members of regional, national, and international organizations as well as liaisons for businesses and federal agencies. 

WG–USA is a designated Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) in Special Consultative Status with the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) of the United Nations. In its work at the UN, WG–USA advocates for issues with a focus on achieving equity for women and girls inside our borders and around the globe.

WG–USA is the United States affiliate of Graduate Women International (GWI). WG–USA collaborates in its international action and advocacy with other GWI affiliates nationally, regionally and globally, and with fellow members of civil society. GWI National Federations and Associations are present in more than 50 countries. The GWI international network focuses on a wide-range of educational, humanitarian, and cultural issues, and advocates internationally for the rights of women and girls.

Full membership in WG–USA offers many advantages, including membership in Graduate Women International, the leading global organization of women advocating for women and girls’ rights, equality, and empowerment through access to quality education. In addition, members of WG–USA have:

  • Opportunities to serve in leadership positions and apply for GWI fellowships and other competitive funding open only to members.

  • Full access to national and international events for members including WG–USA Annual General Meetings and GWI Triennial Conferences

  • Exclusive access to original research and resources available in the member center of our website as well as opportunities to disseminate their own research or works in progress

  • Active engagement and appointed or elected leadership opportunities within the organization, including representatives at the principal UN sites in New York

  • Publishing opportunities in the monthly newsletter, as desired

  • Public speaking engagements, as desired and as opportunities arise

  • Opportunities to participate in committees, working groups and task forces to increase personal knowledge and understanding, share expertise, and contribute to the impact of WG–USA through advocacy and action

  • Networking opportunities domestically and internationally with WG–USA and GWI members of various backgrounds and stages of career and education

  • Opportunities to serve as delegates or present during the annual UN Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) and attend other High-Level meetings at the UN year-round 

  • Input on public policy recommendations for an international audience and/or written and oral statements with GWI and global policy-making organizations
