Advocacy & Action

Women Graduates–USA is a nonprofit organization. Members and constituents have an international perspective as advocates for social and economic justice for all women and girls. We are poised to act on behalf of all women.

WG–USA believes that the power of advocacy changes lives for the better. In fact, advocacy has always been an essential tool for social change. Most gains in human rights and gender equality around the globe and in the United States have been the result of passion, persistence and focus of advocacy efforts.

WG–USA Advocacy takes many forms.

  • Engage with Elected Officials and representatives of national, state and local governments to advocate for WG–USA core issues.

  • As an organization accredited by the United Nations Economic and Social Council WG–USA partners with other non-governmental organizations and civil society working with agencies and departments of the United Nations.

  • Partner for education and advocacy with fellow federations and association affiliates of Graduate Women International.

  • Publications with issue updates: the WG–USA.org website, Position Papers, and THE FLAME, our monthly newsletter. Each provides in-depth coverage of core and emerging issues along with links to valuable WG–USA and external resources.

  • Action Alert Network® and “WG–USA e-Blasts”:  these alerts inspire members, partners and fellow stakeholders to take action and influence appointed and elected representatives.

  • Annual Resolutions:  During its Annual General Meeting, WG–USA members deliberate issues and adopt resolutions which will guide programs and advocacy efforts.

  • Education: WG–USA actively engages and educates members, partners and fellow stakeholders about core issues.  Engagement and education is valued in meetings, webinars and webcasts, conferences and WG–USA communiqués with elected and appointed national and state officials, United Nations agencies, civil society colleagues, and fellow stakeholders whose efforts coincide with WG–USA priorities.

Women Graduates–USA believes that personal and professional growth for women and girls comes from advocating for themselves and others.
